• We're just waiting for 10 more signatures to be mailed in from Ontario. Greg and Dino, representing FCN, obtained these signatures at a wellness fair. Once we receive them, we will submit all the paper petitions to Ottawa. Thank you!

How to Sign Properly

To ensure your signature is accepted by the House of Commons, please follow these strict guidelines:

• Must be Canadian to sign. If you are gathering signatures from Canadians living abroad, have them write "Canadian Citizen" or "(Citizen)" right next to their foreign address.
• No age limit to sign.
• Signature must be in ink (do not print your name).
• Location information is mandatory: You must include at least your city, province, and postal code.
• At least three signatures must appear on the front of the page.
• Turn the page over to add signatures on the back. Print more pages as required.

Privacy note: Only the total number of signatures is published by the government. No names or addresses will be made public.

Mailing Instructions

Please return any signed originals (no copies) by mail ASAP. There is still a bit of time to gather additional signatures at your local swims and mail them in! Ottawa folks: if you have collected signatures, please mail them in.

Upcoming e-Petition — Call for Initial Sponsors

A Canadian e-Petition requires 5 or more initial sponsors to provide credibility to the petition before launch.

• Federation of Canadian Naturists (FCN): The FCN board has decided to be one of the initial signatories, sharing the following statement:

  "The Federation of Canadian Naturists would like to be an Initial Sponsor of this petition. We agree that it is substantially different from E-3999 and offers a much stronger approach.

  In our view, the revised petition makes a more ambitious legal argument while providing a more defensible foundation. E-3999 sought repeal and relied on a historical common law argument. This petition instead seeks a declaratory clarification based on a conduct test consistent with the approach used elsewhere in the Criminal Code.

  We also welcome the proposed committee study as a practical first step. It gives the government an opportunity to examine the issue before committing to further action. Together, these elements make the petition harder to dismiss and give a cautious Member of Parliament a stronger basis for supporting it.

  Please include the Federation of Canadian Naturists as an Initial Sponsor and let us know what information you need to formalize our participation.

  Thank you for developing this thoughtful proposal."

• Fédération québécoise de naturisme (FQN): Has written, "We would be happy to support your initiative," and is currently reviewing the petition.
• Wreck Beach Preservation Society: Expressed interest, but has not yet signed on as an initial signatory.

Eligibility Rules for Initial Signatories

• Citizenship or Residency: Each of the five initial supporters must be a Canadian citizen or a resident of Canada.
• Exclusion of Parliament/Government Devices: Supporters cannot use an email address or a device with an IP address tied to the Parliament or Government of Canada.
• No Self-Signing: The primary petitioner creating the e-petition cannot count as one of the five required initial supporters.

Practical Impact of the First Five Signers

• Automatic Signatories: The first five supporters who confirm their support via email are automatically listed as the official first signatories when the e-petition goes public.
• Progress Updates: They receive automated email notifications tracking the petition as it moves through review, MP sponsorship, and public signing stages.
• No Special Power: Beyond meeting the administrative threshold to launch the public signature phase, they hold no special procedural power over how the government or a sponsoring Member of Parliament handles the petition.
